Terms of use
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These terms govern the use of Miimo, whether you create a gift or receive one. By using the service, you accept them.
1. The service
Miimo (“miimo.gift”) is a platform that lets one person, the creator, prepare a gift to be discovered step by step (messages, photos, reveals, and possibly money to unlock) for another person, the recipient. The recipient opens their gift with a link and a verification code sent to their phone, without creating an account.
The service is published by [Publisher's name or company name — to be completed], [Publisher's address, Cameroon — to be completed]. Contact: [contact e-mail address — to be completed].
2. Access and creator account
- To create a Miimo, you sign in with your phone number and a code received by SMS or WhatsApp. There is no password.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian if you are a minor.
- You are responsible for your number and your device. Never share your verification code: we will never ask you for it.
- You agree to provide accurate information, in particular the recipient's number.
3. Creating and sending a Miimo
- You can prepare drafts freely. Nothing is sent until you confirm.
- Once payment has started, the content is frozen so that the recipient receives exactly what you planned.
- You can choose to send immediately or on a specific date.
- The recipient must confirm their phone number to open the gift. If the number you entered is wrong, the gift will not be accessible to the right person: check it before sending.
4. Group Miimo (inviting loved ones)
- The organizer can invite up to 30 people by their phone number, so that they add their own steps (3 steps and 3 photos each). They only enter the numbers of people who know they are invited and have agreed. They do not invite the gift's recipient.
- A guest has no account: they open the link, confirm their number with a code, then write. They remain responsible for what they add, which must comply with the rules in the “Content” section and the list of what is prohibited.
- The organizer stays in control: they can require approval of each step, hide or remove what doesn't fit, remove a guest, choose whether everyone sees the whole journey or only their own steps, and edit the final journey. They are responsible for the gift they send, including the guest steps they kept.
- They finish the collection whenever they want; this is final. A deadline, if there is one, only prevents new additions.
- For now, guests cannot add money: only the organizer's amounts are paid to the recipient.
5. Money, payments and payouts
- Payment is made by Mobile Money (MTN MoMo or Orange Money) through our payment provider, MyCoolPay. Miimo does not hold a wallet: the funds are kept by this provider between your payment and their release.
- The amount given is released according to the mode chosen at creation: at each step, or at the end of the journey. The recipient receives it on their Mobile Money number.
- Operators and the payment provider may apply fees or limits. The total to pay is shown to you before you confirm.
- A payout cannot be canceled once made. It may fail (invalid number, limit, provider balance); we retry it or contact you.
- If a gift is never opened or completed, the conditions for refunding the funds that were not released are: [to be completed by the publisher].
- Amounts shown are in CFA francs (FCFA).
6. Content
You remain the owner of the texts and photos you add. You only authorize us to store them and show them to the recipient in order to provide the service. You guarantee that:
- you have the right to use this content (in particular photos of third parties);
- it is not illegal, hateful, defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, or intended to deceive or threaten;
- you do not send unsolicited content to a person who asked you to stop.
We may suspend or delete content or an account that does not comply with these rules, without prejudice to legal action.
7. What is prohibited
- Using Miimo for a scam, money laundering, blackmail or any illegal activity.
- Sending gifts in bulk to people who don't know you, or impersonating someone.
- Trying to bypass code verification, to access someone else's gift or to disrupt the service.
- Automatically extracting data from the service.
8. For the recipient
Receiving a gift commits you to nothing. You can open it or ignore it. By confirming your number, you accept that we process your data as described in the privacy policy. The memory video you can create at the end is generated on your phone; check that the content can be shared before posting it.
9. Availability and liability
- We do our best to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted (maintenance, failure of a provider such as the operator, SMS or WhatsApp).
- SMS and WhatsApp messages depend on third-party operators: we do not guarantee their timing or delivery.
- We are not responsible for the content creators send, nor for a gift wrongly addressed because of an incorrect number.
- To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damages. Nothing in these terms excludes a liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
10. Reporting, removal and suspension
Any recipient can report a gift (shocking or illegal content, harassment, scam) from the gift itself. A member of our team reviews the report and may, depending on the case, dismiss it or remove the gift: nobody can then open it. A removal does not, by itself, lead to a refund of the amounts paid: this is examined separately.
- To review a report, our team may read the content of the gift concerned; this access is logged and limited to that purpose (see the privacy policy).
- We may suspend an account that breaches these terms: the creator can then no longer sign in, but gifts already sent remain accessible to their recipients, unless removed.
- We may restore a gift or an account once the situation is clarified.
11. Suspension and end of use
You can stop using Miimo at any time and ask for your account to be deleted (see the privacy policy). We may suspend or close access in case of breach of these terms, fraud or a legal obligation.
12. Personal data
The processing of your data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
13. Changes
We may change these terms, for example when the service evolves. The update date is shown at the top of the page. Continuing to use Miimo after a change means you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Cameroonian law. In the event of a dispute, we first seek an amicable solution; failing that, the competent courts of Cameroon will have jurisdiction, subject to the applicable consumer protection rules.
